This proof set includes both the 1988 silver dollar and the new circulating dollar.

The silver dollar marks the 250th anniversary of the Saint Maurice Ironworks in the province of Quebec. The design is the work of Robert Ralph Carmichael of Ontario and depicts two ironworkers of the 18th century.

The new circulating dollar bearing the design of the common loon, replaces the nickel dollar.
