The designs by Canadian artist Robert Bateman on the reverse of each coin show the polar bear in its arctic habitat.
The four different scenes depicted are: a mother and cub at the entrance to their ice den, a polar bear traversing a gravel river bed, a polar bear resting at water's edge and a polar bear swimming.
The purity of each platinum coin is .9995.
