Purchased from the Inuvialuit artist in 2007 in Tuktoyaktuk, this exceptional piece is part of a collection accumulated while working for the Inuvialuit Game Council in Inuvik, Northwest Territories.
This signed artwork was carved by Mary Ann Taylor Reid, affiliated with the well-known Taylor family of artists in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories.
The carving is a composition of: light-brown soapstone (Inuk figure); grey soapstone (fish); on a red soapstone base.
The Inuk figure is 5.5” high by 3” wide; the fish are 1.5” long by 0.25” wide; and the base is 8” long by 4.5” wide.
The total weight is 49 oz.
