Silver Coin and Stamp Set - 3 Cents - 2001 - Royal Canadian Mint - The 150th Anniversary of the First Postage Stamp in Canada.

This set consists of a 3 cent coin, a stamp and a 3 pence brass beaver token.

This 3 cent coin contains 92.5% silver and is covered with 24 karat gold.

Diameter - 21.2 mm.

Nominal Metal Weight - 5.39 g.

The reverse design depicts a portion of the original design which appeared on the first postage stamp. Canada's inaugural three-pence beaver stamp was issued on April 23, 1851. It was also the first animal stamp in the world. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pedery-Hunt.
