Coin Set - 1987 - Royal Canadian Mint - Double Dollar Proof Set - 400th Anniversary of John Davis' Exploration of Baffin Island.

This proof set includes both the 1987 silver dollar and nickel dollar.

The silver dollar marks the 400th Anniversary of John Davis' Exploration of Baffin Island, the Davis Strait and the Gulf of Cumberland. The design is the work of Christopher Gorey of Nova Scotia and depicts a vessel of the 16th century with an iceberg in the background.

The nickel dollar bears the popular design of the Indian and Voyageur in a canoe which appeared on the first Canadian silver dollar issued in 1935.
