The Bumble Bee and the Bloom

The Bumble Bee and the Bloom $50 silver coin was expertly struck by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2019.

This coin demonstrates the Canadian Mint's innovation in interactive coins with moving elements. It is a five ounce 99.99% pure silver coin and has a low mintage of 1200.

The coin has a background of silver engraved roses but the large gold plated flower that is raised from the center along with the yellow gold bee that rotates when the coin is titled is what makes this coin so spectacular.

The reverse design by Canadian artist Tony Bianco features a close view of a wild rose shrub. This common wild rose is the floral emblem of Alberta, Canada. The gold plated rose is fully open to allow easy access to the pollen which is a food source for the bumble bee.  As the coin is tilted, you can see the bee circle the flower.  The obverse features the gold-plated effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
